Your FCC FRN number
Every candidate needs an FRN before testing. If you don’t have one, register free at the FCC CORES site.

Acceptable government-issued identification. Minors must be accompanied by an adult with valid ID, and should bring some document showing the minor’s identity.
Your existing licence
If you are already licensed, bring it — original or a copy.
Any previous CSCE
If you are upgrading and the FCC has not yet reflected your new class, bring the CSCE from any VEC.
Proof of a previous licence
If your licence has expired and you are re-taking Technician to grandfather your previous class, bring proof of the old licence.
How to actually pass.
The Technician exam is 35 multiple-choice questions drawn from a published pool. Most people pass in two to four weeks of casual study.
